We have some great news to share!! This past May,  Michelle Gainey of Lemiga Events invited us to be apart of her Midtown wedding planning boutique Studio Wed.

SWButtonWhite

From the site:

This is a hip and revolutionary concept in local and destination weddings in Atlanta: a stylish and sophisticated planning studio where the area’s best vendors come to you. Meet with a photographer over coffee in the morning and enjoy a glass of wine as you chat with a florist in the afternoon. Best of all, there’s no cost to you to use StudioWed’s services, so you can feel free to spend an entire day — or as many as you need — planning your big day.
We are so excited to be apart of Studio Wed! Not only do we love the concept;  but we love all of the Studio Wed vendors, we’re like a big happy family.

courtney + eric – atlanta, ga – centennial park

We met with Courtney & Eric in January and they contracted us to shoot their engagement and wedding. We will be shooting their beautiful wedding at Glendalough Manor in October.  It was so easy shooting Courtney & Eric; we love their attention to detail,  and the color and style of their outfits were like  eye candy for us!

Just in case we haven’t said it before, we really love shooting engagement sessions for our wedding clients.  It really helps to loosen everyone up and get used to being in front of our cameras,  by the wedding day you’ll all be naturals.

Courtney and Eric were both born and raised in Georgia,  so it was  only natural for them to have their session in the heart of Atlanta. We love you Courtney & Eric and we can’t wait to see you again in a few months. We’ll be crying behind our cameras at the ceremony! (seriously…lol)

elise + james – savannah, ga – destination wedding

When Elise contacted us to book us for her Savannah wedding she made it loud and clear that she was WAYYY interested in portraits.  That was WAYYY up our alley. Elise and James made our jobs so easy. Elise is super sweet and James is so laid back, we all had really GREAT chemistry.  Zahra and Elise were even born on the same day and year! How crazy is that?!

So first off,  we met James at The Marshall House to shoot is getting ready. Elise warned us that he was shy, but he was SOOOO a natural.

Ladies Love Cool James. hehe had to do it.

cara + montague – chattanooga, tn – destination wedding

We met Cara; I mean America’s Next Top Model at the  Double Tree Hotel-Chattanooga for getting ready and portraits.  We loved shooting her getting ready, we love when the bridesmaids and bride get ready together, everyone is helping everyone and there is NEVER a dull moment.

After Cara was dressed and perfect we asked her if she wanted to do a few bridal portraits before we shot formals. We tried to tell her that we would love to shoot her sitting in the window in her room but could understand if she wasn’t feeling it, etc.  Before Courtney could finish her sentence Cara hopped in the window and THAT ladies and gentlemen, set the tone for the day.

Little did we know, Cara already had a game plan for portraits…she scouted the hotel out before we got there!!!  Check out some of the other portraits we took of Cara. What a trooper!

Cara and Montague opted to see each other before the ceremony.   We did their first look on the Walnut Street Bridge. Cara wanted to have a first look before the ceremony in order to cut down on post-ceremony formals…allotting more time for  newlywed portraits of course. :)

Valentine’s Day-Riley + Vance-Birmingham, AL

Riley and Vance… we love them so much we don’t even know where to begin with this blog post.  Back in 2008 we shot the wedding of Vance’s brother, Stanford.  After seeing Stanford’s wedding images, Riley and Vance knew we were the photographers for them and asked us to shoot their wedding, as well.  The wedding took place on Valentine’s Day 2009 at Vance’s parents beautiful home (the same place as Stanford’s wedding).  Vance’s mom remembered us and greeted us when we walked in the door and asked if we wanted her to fix us some lunch (she is SSSOOOO sweet!!!).  We just love her to pieces!  Since we had work to do (and we had just gorged ourselves on McDonald’s), we declined her offer for lunch and started shooting all of the beautiful décor around the house.  Everything was pink and red and just made you feel warm and fuzzy all over.  ;)

Riley arrived shortly afterwards and we started her getting ready session… all the girly stuff… details of the dress and the shoes, candid images of her putting her makeup on, etc.  This is one of our favorite parts of the day because it gives us a chance to connect with the bride and photograph her last moments as a single woman.  The anticipation and preparation is always visible in the images and we love that.  Grooms can’t possibly understand all the effort their brides go through to look so beautiful on the wedding day.  And, boy-oh-boy, did Riley look beautiful!!  Our favorite thing about Riley is that she is not only STUNNING on the outside, but she is such a warm and friendly person on the inside; Vance is getting the best of both worlds!!  We also shot candid images of Vance getting ready and it was like déjà vu because he looks so much like his brother, Stanford, whom we had photographed in that same room just months earlier.  But we made sure to put a new spin on the images so his would be different from Stanford’s.  We try to capture the personalities of each client so each wedding looks different, even if the venue or the décor or even the people are similar to another wedding.  Riley and Vance decided to see each other before the ceremony, so they actually were able to help each other get ready (i.e. Vance zipped Riley’s dress, etc.).  What special moments those were!!  The ceremony took place in the house and was so peaceful and sweet.  There were high windows providing lots of natural light, which we love.  Riley accidentally tried to put Vance’s wedding band on his right hand instead of his left, so it was cute to hear the guests snickering about that.  After the ceremony we took Riley and Vance outside and shot their newlywed portraits.  We even incorporated some of the pink and red balloons.  They took well to our direction and allowed us to be creative with their posing and we love the images we got.  We love when clients just relax and TRUST us with their portraits because the images really take on a new feeling when that happens.  We think the clients’ personalities and love for one another really come through the images that way.  Then we headed back in and joined their reception.   The first dance, the cake cutting, the speeches… all of it was great.  They even had a little bonfire going in the backyard.

At the end of the reception we went to say our goodbyes to the happy couple and were taken aback with their comments.  They went on and on about how great we were to work with, how they loved our enthusiasm and passion for what we do, and how they’re going to refer everyone to us, etc.  Most of our clients have nice things to say at the end of the wedding, but Riley and Vance get the trophy!!  Zahra even started crying a little bit (but I think she hid it pretty well).  Riley and Vance, thank you so much for being such genuine, down-to-earth people and for allowing us to be a part of your unforgettable Valentine’s Day wedding.  Thank you for recognizing our passion and work ethic and for taking the time to tell us you appreciated us.  We can’t tell you how much we just love you guys to death!!!  Call us the next time you come through Atlanta and we’ll go have drinks!!  :)

Instead of throwing the bouquet,  Riley had the cutest little things called “cake charms”… each girl pulls a charm out of the cake and they all have a different meaning.  Riley read each meaning out loud. I think some of the girls were planning to use their charms as pendants. Cool idea.

11.22.08 – Marissa + Peter – Atlanta, GA

Marissa and Peter… WOW, What a great way to end the year! Marissa and Peter were our first Orthodox Jewish wedding, and we are praying that it was not our last. The day was filled with so many twists and turns. I MEAN THERE WAS NEVER A DULL MOMENT!! The ceremony was held in the chapel of the Beth Jacob Synagogue, and the reception was held in Beth Jacob’s beautiful ballroom. Marissa and Peter’s family and friends were such a joy to work with. They were so warm and welcoming that it made us feel like we were a part of the gang. The reception was sooo much fun. There was juggling fire, acrobatics, and balancing ladders…SERIOUSLY!! Missy and Peter we want to thank you two for being so open with us and teaching us so much about your religion/culture. We really enjoyed working with you and your amazing families and we hope to get lots of referrals from you… because your friends/family sure know how to throw a p-a-r-t-y. We will never ever forget your beautiful day; you never forget your firsts. :)

Year End Review…

2008… WOW!!!… What a great year!!  Both of us were blessed with the opportunity to do our internships with widely acclaimed wedding photographers, we got to display our photography in an Atlanta art gallery for two months, we received our degrees in commercial photography, and we started our own wedding photography business.  We both feel extremely fortunate to have found “our calling” within wedding photography and also to have found each other as team mates.  We both agree that our lives have never felt so… right.  We are genuinely happy to wake up every morning and see where this business takes us.  We can’t wait to see what 2009 has in store!!

Before we jump into new 2009 blog/site posts, we do want to post some of our favorite weddings from 2008.  Thank you to all of our 2008 clients for believing in us and for giving us a place to start in this industry.  Each wedding brought new accomplishments, new challenges, new solutions, and new experiences.  2008 clients, we are forever grateful that you chose us to document the most important day of your lives.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

As always, feel free to leave comments.  Enjoy!!

11.09.08 – Stephanie and Andy – Destination Wedding – Charleston, SC

Stephanie and Andy had a beautiful November wedding in Charleston, SC (one of our favorite places to shoot).  We started the day with Stephanie and her ladies shooting the getting-ready images at The Wentworth Mansion.  OMG!!  What a stunning hotel!!  It was built in 1886 (123 years ago).  The extremely high ceilings, intricate woodwork, and endless details made this hotel a photographer’s dream!  The ceremony was held at The Citadel Summerall Chapel and the reception was held at Charleston’s beautiful Historic Rice Mill.  Because they had a day wedding, Stephanie and Andy were able to wait until after the reception was over to do their newlywed portraits (these are usually done right after the ceremony).  This turned out to be an AWESOME idea because this allowed us to use the soft, afternoon light during their portrait session.  We wish all of our portrait sessions could be that way.  ;)   We shot them at the Rice Mill for a little while and then we all drove down to The Battery and finished the session near the water and palm trees.  We were having so much fun we continued to shoot even when it was totally dark outside.  We couldn’t get enough of them!  By far, this was our favorite portrait session of 2008.  Of course, it does help when the bride and groom are both drop-dead gorgeous.  ;)   Thanks, Stephanie and Andy, for “getting in the zone” with us during the portraits and for letting us be so creative with you.  ;)   We wish you the best of luck on your new lives in Germany!!  Here are some of our favorite shots from their day:
